Defending Robin Long, a fellow War Resister
In August, I was asked to testify in defense of a fellow war resister, Robin Long, who had been deported from Canada to the U.S. to face desertion charges for refusing deployment to Iraq and seeking refuge in Canada.
Robin refused deployment from Active Duty, which opened him up to FAR more immediate and enduring consequences than I. Despite my testimony and that of Col. Ann Wright (ret.), Robin was sentenced to 15 months confinement and a dishonorable discharge.
Now a prisoner of conscience, Robin is to remain incarcerated at The Naval Consolidated Brig at Miramar, just North of San Diego, until November of next year. You can send him e-mail at robinlong@couragetoresist.org or send him letters at PO Box 452136, San Diego CA 92145-2136
